II YEAR, Think 2, Unit 10, p.97

Hello everyone!
Time to continue with our unit, time for some grammar! On page 97 in your book we have a lesson on the Past Perfect Continuous. If you look at exercise 1, the sentences are from the stories on p.96. They are the following (complete and check):
  1. They had been waiting for this moment for years.
  2. The 9-year-old had been skiing on his own during the break and had not stayed with the other children.
  3. Jack had been suffering from a serious illness since he was born.
Therefore, you can also complete the rule in the blue rectangle below exercise 1. It states that we can use it
  • to talk about things that started in the past and continued until another time in the past;
  • to talk about things that have stopped and have a result in the past;
  • to focus on how long an activity had been happening.
TASK 1:
Do the exercises 2 and 3. (Remember, past perfect simple focuses on the COMPLETION of the activity, past perfect continuous focuses on the DURATION of the activity.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Page 97 has half of it reserved for some vocabulary practice! This time we are dealing with collocations connected with the topic illness. Feel free to look them up on the internet if something is not clear. After that

TASK 2:
Do the exercises 1 and 2 from the section vocabulary.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As for the pronunciation part, no task here, but there you go, some rather interesting insight:

And last,

TASK 3:
Answer the questions in the Speaking part: Functions - Talking about your health.

IMPORTANT - DO NOT WRITE THEM DOWN.
INSTEAD MAKE A VIDEO of yourself answering the questions. Probably it'd be most convenient to send the files (clips) on messenger to my Facebook, or if you have another option, it's fine with me, as long as it can be seen and heard.

This time you have a whole week, I'll be expecting your homework till Wednesday, 15th April, 23:59pm.

Have a great week everyone! Stay safe and healthy! 💗💗💗
