II YEAR - Think 2, Unit 10, p.95

Hello everyone!

We continue with our journey through unit 10. Page 95 brings us to the listening skills part. The upper half of p.95 is about our listening task, concerning the 14 year-old-student Sam giving a talk at school about being fit and exercise. Before you click to listen, stop for a second and watch these:

Then ask yourself the following:
  • How much exercise do you do? Why do you exercise (you should be worried if you don't)?
  • Do you do more exercise than your parents/grandparents?
Now you can listen to our task when you click play on the next video. It is a talk about health. But what specifically? There are two things you need to give as an answer in connection to this.

TASK 1:

1. Pick one of the three statements in exercise 1, as a topic on which Sam is giving a speech.
2. Exercise 2 has to do with a classmate of Sam, and you are supposed to fill in the note, given on p.95, right from the photo.

Here is the video with the listening part:

The lower half of the page refers to the Train to think part and is again about health. Also the focus is on making conclusions and how to form and express them in the English language.

TASK 2:

1. In exercise 1, just fill in the sentences with therefore and should.
2. In the second exercise, you should look at the conclusions in the green rectangles and state for each which one is valid and which one is invalid. Of course, you should give reasons for your choices. (There is an example given about conclusion A, so that leaves you with three more to go.)

What can be of help here? Read the following:
  • I can speak French. Therefore, I am French. (invalid)
  • He has the same birthday as his brother. Therefore, they are twins. (valid)

Whoever wants, can look up these (there's even a quiz yay):

Have fun! Will be expecting your homework until Saturday evening, 23:59 pm.
